Mr. William E. Weston, 80, of LaPorte, died at 4 a.m. on Monday, June 22, 2009, at his residence after a brief illness.
He was born Jan. 25, 1929, in Argo, IL, to Felix and Estelle (Fornal) Wesoloski.
Mr. Weston retired as the owner of Mayes Roofing Company Inc., having owned the business from 1973 to 2004. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and an usher there for 30 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Hamon Gray American Legion Post 83 for 23 years, a member of the LaPorte Kiwanis Club for 34 years, and a member of the LaPorte and Michigan City Elks Clubs, Polish National Alliance Lodge 2404 in Chicago, National Roofing Contractors Association, and Midwest Roofing Contractor Association.
On April 28, 1968, in Chicago, he married Aurelia C. “Rae” Helkowski, who survives.
He also leaves behind one daughter, Sharon (Mark) Casey of Somerset, WI; two grandchildren, Kiley and Jack Casey; one sister, Evelyn (William) McCaw of Inverness, FL; one brother, George (Judy) Wesoloski of Wilmington, NC; three nieces, and three nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Eugene Wesoloski and Norbert Wesoloski.
A funeral Mass will be held Friday, June 26, at 9 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, LaPorte, with Rev. Ian Williams officiating. A prayer service will be held at Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, on Thursday, June 25, at 5:30 p.m. with Rev. Williams officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home Thursday from 5 to 7 p.m. and Friday from 8 to 8:30 a.m.
