Mr. Richard L.”Pappy” Milich Sr., 68, of Rolling Prairie, IN, died Saturday, June 27, 2009, at LaPorte Hospital.
He was born Jan. 7, 1941, in Michigan City, IN, the son of John Milich and Margaret (Anderson) Milich.
Richard worked as a welder for Modine Manufacturing Co. He was a member of the Army Reserve. He enjoyed football, camping, gardening and being outdoors. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his life partner, Chris Marshall of Rolling Prairie; one son, Richard (Stacy) Milich Jr. of Michigan City; two daughters, Richelle (Scott) Milich of Michigan City and Patti (Phil) Chapman of Piedmont, AL; four grandchildren, Tyler Ackerman, Samantha Milich, Andrew Milich and Jennifer Bishop; one great-grandchild, Trevor Ackerman; and three sisters, Sandra (Norman) Brinkman of Michigan City, Gale Killingsworth of Michigan City and Judy (Don) Coe of Tipton, IN.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Ronnie, Billy and Johnny Milich.
The family will receive friends Thursday, July 2, at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 4 to 6 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 6 p.m. with David Swartz officiating. Cremation will follow.
