Mrs. Janina Sekula, 85, of LaPorte, died Friday, Aug. 28, 2009, at 12:15 a.m. at Golden Living Center, LaPorte.
She was born Sept. 18, 1923, in Brzesc, Poland, to John and Kamilla (Przygocka) Radz.
Mrs. Sekula was an assembler at LaPorte Plastics and had also worked at the former Holiday Inn. She was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the PNA Club.
On Feb. 28, 1970, in LaPorte, she married Frank Sekula, who preceded her in death on Sept. 30, 2003.
She is survived by one daughter, Sophie (John) Sondermann of Indianapolis; two sons, Waldemar (Boguslawa) Kalucki of LaPorte and Erwin (Danuta) Kalucki of LaPorte; one stepdaughter, Jean Bond of LaPorte; one stepson, Richard Sekula of LaPorte; nine grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Her parents preceded her in death.
A funeral Mass will be held Monday, Aug. 31, at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, LaPorte, with Rev. Ian Williams officiating. Visitation will be held at Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, on Sunday, Aug. 30, from 3 to 6 p.m., with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. with Rev. Williams officiating; and on Monday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, following the service.
