Louise Lukac, 79, of LaPorte, died at 1:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, 2009, at Golden Living Center-Fountainview, LaPorte.
She was born Oct. 22, 1930, in Denham, IN, daughter of Earl and Irene (Thews) Okeley.
Louise was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and an avid Cubs fan.
On June 14, 1947, in Knox, IN, she married Steve Lukac, who survives.
Also surviving are seven sons: Raymond (Carol) Lukac of Kingsbury, IN, Thomas (Susan) Lukac of LaPorte, William (Peggy) Lukac of LaPorte, James Lukac of LaPorte, Steven Lukac Jr. of Bensenville, IL, Jerry (Tawnya) Lukac of LaPorte, and Robert Lukac of LaPorte; eight brothers and sisters: Doris Wroblewski of LaPorte, Lila (Calvin) Rudd of Valparaiso, IN, Alice (Evert) Miller of Knox, Donald (Cathy) Okeley of Knox, Joyce (Jim) Bailey of Knox, Charlie (Orpha) Okeley of Bluffton, IN, Robert (Pat) Okeley of Valparaiso, and Elsie Papp of Munster, IN; 12 grandchildren: Matthew and Alisha Lukac, Joey and Kyle Lukac, Tyler Lukac, Heather Swanson, Jerry (Brandi) Lukac Jr., Roberta (Lee) Mumaw, Kristie (Tim) McCormick, Tabitha Worthington, Josaiah Pittmon, and Michelle Dunfee; and nine great-grandchildren: Dylan and Bailey Mumaw, Loren, Nicolas and Nathan Lukac, Ryan Dunfee, and Jacob, Johnathan and Sara McCormick.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, William, Lester and Kenneth Okeley; and two grandchildren, Gerald Lukac II and Robin Lukac.
Friends will be received at Cutler Funeral Home, LaPorte, on Tuesday, Oct. 27, from 4 to 8 p.m., and on Wednesday, Oct. 28, from 10 to 11 a.m. Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Ronald Devenport officiating. Interment will follow in Kingsbury Cemetery, Kingsbury, IN.
