Mr. William D. Fanning , 63, of LaPorte, died Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2009, at LaPorte Hospital.
He was born Jan. 11, 1946, in Chicago, the son of John W. and Winifred (Budd) Fanning.
William worked for Sears, retiring in 1984. William was a diehard Cubs fan. He was a loving father, grandfather and uncle and was loved by all.
On Sept. 11, 1971, in Chicago, he married Donna E. Lee, who preceded him in death.
He is survived by his sons, Scott (Stacy) Fanning of Gosport, IN, and Michael (Annmarie) Fanning of LaPorte; one grandson, Logan Fanning of LaPorte; one sister, Patricia (Walter) Weber; and two brothers, Kenneth (Laverne) Fanning and James Fanning.
William was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Virginia Cass and Jacquelin Economakos; and one brother, Jerry Fanning.
The family will receive friends at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, on Friday, Dec. 4, from 2 to 8 p.m. Services will be held at the funeral home on Friday at 6 p.m. with Rev. Steve Laue officiating. Cremation will take place.
