Allison Zila decided to follow in her big sister's footsteps and help homeless animals on her birthday.

Remember Abby Zila? The cute little blonde-haired girl who asked for donations for the dogs and cats at the animal shelter instead of gifts for her 10th birthday party?jane-bernard-logo

Well, generosity runs in the Zila family.

Abby’s sister Allison turned 7 this past month and followed in her sister’s footsteps. She also had a party and asked all of her friends to bring donations for the shelter instead of gifts for herself. We received all kinds of food, treats and some really neat toys for the homeless animals.

   Wow! These girls are amazing.

Big sister Abby certainly is a great role model for her younger sister Allison, and actually for all of us, especially at this time of year. My dad always reminded me, “It is better to give than to receive.” Abby’s and Allison’s mom and dad have been good teachers.

We are incredibly thankful to these little girls for their kind hearts for homeless animals and the example they have set.

The shelter has been very fortunate to be on the receiving end of many generous donations from the community as a whole. We would like to send out a sincere thank you to those that have supported us and our objective through the years.

Paws till next time — Jane
