James E. Lee Sr., 82, of LaPorte, died Monday, Dec. 21, 2009, at 6:10 a.m. in his home surrounded by his loving family.

   James was born May 27, 1927, in Oakdale, TN, to Wesley A. and Bertha (Potter) Lee.

   Mr. Lee worked for LaPorte Transit for 23 years before his retirement. He also worked for Magnum Security of South Bend, and E.L.F. of LaPorte. James was a veteran of World War II. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be dearly missed.

   On Oct. 9, 1964, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, LaPorte, he married Jacqueline (Schultz) Lee, who survives.

   Also surviving are five daughters, Brenda (Lenord) Cox of Wartburg, TN, Stella Perkins of LaPorte, Linda (Robert) Hough of LaPorte, Sheri (Tom) Sommers of Hayes, VA, and Lesa (Mark) Hill of LaPorte; two sons, James E. (Mary) Lee Jr. of Osceola, IN, and Corey (Penny) Lee of Winter Springs, FL; one sister, Dessie Marie Kennedy of Wartburg; 18 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

   He was preceded in death by one sister, Edna Brewer, and one great-grandchild.

   A memorial service honoring his life will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, LaPorte, with Rev. Ronald Brauer officiating. Lakeview Funeral Home and Crematory, LaPorte, is handling arrangements.
