Rose Kellogg   Rose Marguerite (Keller) Kellogg, 88, of LaPorte/South Bend, went to be with her Lord Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009.

   She was born Aug. 31, 1921, in Mill Creek, IN, raised in LaPorte, graduated from LaPorte High school in 1939 and married Glenn Kellogg in 1940. She lived most of her adult life in South Bend until moving to Houston in 1998 to be close to her son, Dan, and his family.

   She was preceded in death by her sons Rick, Ronald and Donald, and husband Glenn.

   Rose is survived by her son, Dan, and his wife Gwen, by grandchildren Ryan, Craig and Kristen Kellogg of Houston and Monica Nistch and Rebecca Hunter of Midlothian TX, and by great-grandchildren Rebecca and Abby Nistch and Gage and Cole Hunter. Rose was the ninth of 12 children born of Dan and Gertrud Keller. She is survived by siblings Alliene Renz and Barbara Ratliff of Rolling Prairie, IN, Howard Keller of Michigan City, IN, and Dorothy Hope of North Carolina.

   She was predeceased by siblings Leon, Ray, Omer, Herschel and Gerald Keller, Helen Lewallen and Aletha Shipton.

   Rose worshiped at Calvary Baptist Church in South Bend and at Jersey Village Baptist Church in Houston/Jersey Village, TX. Rose had an uncanny ability to make friends with everyone she met. She was famous for her skill in baking the best chocolate chip oatmeal cookie and crocheting afghans for friends and family. She owned and operated the La Mode Beauty Salon in LaPorte for many years.

   Services to celebrate her loving life were held Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, at Cypress Fairbanks Funeral Home, Houston, TX. Services in Indiana are being handled by Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, where the family will receive friends Thursday, Jan. 7, from 10 a.m. until the service. Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dorothy Jones officiating. Rose will be laid to rest at Kingsbury Cemetery, Kingsbury, IN, next to her husband Glenn and son Ronny.

   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 601 W. Edison Rd., Mishawaka, IN 46545, or to the donor’s choice.
