Dan W. Hutchinson, 76, of LaPorte, died Friday, Jan. 1, 2010, at LaPorte Hospital.

   He was born Dec. 11, 1933, in LaPorte to Edward and Dorothy (Reed) Hutchinson, both of whom preceded him in death.

   Dan had been a millwright with National Steel-Midwest Division for 20 years until his retirement. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was a member of New Creation Vineyard Church. Dan enjoyed traveling with his wife and his parents in his younger years. With all of his trials in life he chose to face it with a sense of humor. He was blessed with a superior intellect and was a conversational enthusiast. His gift of gab made him likeable to many.

   On March 16, 1963, in LaPorte, he married Vermadel Johnston, who preceded him in death.

   Surviving are his brother Frank D. (Janet) Hutchinson of Michigan City, IN, and sister-in-law Katherine Hutchinson of LaPorte, and many nieces and nephews.

   He was preceded in death by his brother, Harold Hutchinson.

   Funeral services will be Friday, Jan. 8, at 6 p.m. at Carlisle Funeral Home, Michigan City, with Pastor Mark Van Meter officiating. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until the service at the funeral home.
