Wilbur Wright   Mr. Wilbur W. Wright, 91, of LaPorte, died Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, at Golden Living Center-Countryside, LaPorte.

   He was born March 26, 1918, in LaPorte, the son of Frank J. and Mamie (Slater) Wright.

   Wilbur worked at the power house supply for Purdue North Central University for 13 years, retiring in 1980; he also worked at Modine Manufacturing for 10 years. He was a member of LaPorte Missionary Church and American Legion Post 83 of LaPorte, and past member of the Loyal Order of Moose. Wilbur was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during World War II.

   On Sept. 5, 1941, in LaPorte, he married Alice R. Curtis, who preceded him in death on May 1, 1974.

   Wilbur was also preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Dorabell Price.

   He is survived by his two daughters, Judith A. Wright of LaPorte and Gloria K. (Timothy) Horstmeyer of Fort Wayne, IN; two grandchildren, Gwen (Shayne) Roberts and Taryn (Chad) Shreeve; and three great-grandchildren.

   The family will receive friends at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, on Wednesday, Jan. 6, from 3 to 7 p.m., and Thursday, Jan. 7, from noon until the service at 1 p.m. with Rev. Carl Galloway officiating. Interment will follow in Patton Cemetery, LaPorte.
