Leah A. Johnson, 25, of LaPorte, died Friday, Jan. 8, 2010, as the result of an automobile accident in Starke County, Indiana.
She was born in LaPorte on May 22, 1984, the daughter of Douglas A. and Christine (Madsen) Ribordy.
Leah was a 2003 LaPorte High School honors graduate and a 2007 honors graduate of Ball State University with a B.A. She worked as a loan specialist at Bank of Indiana in North Judson, IN. She was a 10-year member in 4-H, a Hoosier Girls State representative, played soccer for LPHS, and loved farm animals and her dog, JoBee. Leah enjoyed taking long walks, exercising and being at the beach.
On Nov. 12, 2008, in Lebanon, IN, she married Derek Johnson, who survives.
Also surviving are her son, Jeffrey Madsen Johnson, at home; her mother, Christine Ribordy and friend John Bilik of LaPorte; brother, Nicholas F. (Amanda) Ribordy of West Lafayette, IN; brother-in-law, Aaron J. (Megan) Johnson; sister-in-law, Alexia (Zachery) Baker; grandmother, Elma D. Madsen of Munster, IN; parents-in-law, Jeff L. and Gail Johnson; and mother-in-law, Annette Eicholz of Monticello, IN.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Visitation will be held at Cutler Funeral Home, LaPorte, on Wednesday, Jan. 13, from 3 to 6 p.m., and a Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.

No words I could use could ever ease your pain at this time. But know that so many people are keeping you all in their prayers at this most difficult time. While Leah leaves many here, she will surely be welcomed in heaven by many many more. God bless you all and grant you peace.

Leah was a wonderful person. Very positive minded – always willing to lend a hand. She always had a warm smile on her face. She was a good person with a good heart. We will miss you Leah. I am fortunate to have known you.
