Mr. Dean L. Burger, 63, of LaPorte, died at 10:53 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010, at LaPorte Ho
spital.
He was born Sept. 29, 1946, in South Bend, IN, to Delbert and Doris (Richards) Burger.
Dean retired from GTE as a repairman and was co-owner with his wife of Dean’s Telecom of LaPorte. He was a member of the Army Reserve and was a Pleasant Township volunteer fireman. Dean was a 1965 graduate of LaPorte High School and a member of Phi Delta fraternity, LaPorte Community Federal Credit Union and LaPorte Moose Lodge 492. He enjoyed traveling with his family, gardening, construction and electrical wiring.
On Nov. 16, 1968, in LaPorte, he married Connie Mooney, who survives.
Also surviving are two daughters, Tina Burger of Orlando, FL, and Jennifer (Tom) Salat of LaPorte; one granddaughter, Rachel Gray of Orlando; his parents, of LaPorte; two sisters, Debra Plank of LaPorte and Denise Burger of LaPorte; one brother, Donald (Sherry) Burger of LaPorte; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
A funeral service will be held at Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, on Thursday, Jan. 14, at 2 p.m. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Jan. 13, from 4 to 8 p.m., and Thursday from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Burial will be in Patton Cemetery, LaPorte, following the service.
