   EDITOR’S NOTE: We were thrilled to receive this e-mail from Jean Kaufman Maxson, a LaPorte native who moved with her husband, fellow LaPortean Jim Maxson, to Texas several years ago:

      Dear What’s New LaPorte Team,

      I was a lifelong resident of LaPorte until 2003 when I moved to Texas. Since moving I have taken advantage of the Internet to keep in touch with LaPorte through the local newspaper’s website. What a great surprise when a family member suggested I check out your website. I absolutely love it! Thank you for a great website and for allowing me to stay connected to “home” through your friendly, feel-good site. You are doing a wonderful job and it is much appreciated.
