Morris Cain   Morris Ray Cain, 78, of LaPorte, died Saturday, Jan. 23, 2010, at Settler’s House, LaPorte.

   He was born Sept. 20, 1931, in Francesville, IN, son of Martin Ray Cains and Martha Marie Waymier.

   Morris had worked as a setup man in the Core Department of Modine Manufacturing. He was a member of the American Legion and LaPorte Missionary Church. Morris served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

   On Dec. 19, 1951, in Enterprise, AL, he married Betty Paschal, who preceded him in death on Dec. 20, 2009.

   Also preceding him in death were his parents; one daughter, Brenda Sue Melton; two brothers, Ralph and Homer Cain; one half-brother, Gene Page; and two sisters, Illa Quayzar and Marge Virginia Steel.

   Surviving are his daughter and son-in-law, Virginia and Thomas Maksyan of LaPorte; son Edward Cain of LaPorte; eight grandchildren, Shari, Jesse, Martha, Benjamin, Michael, Ashley, James, and Joseph; seven great-grandchildren; and half-brother Raymond Page.

   A funeral service will be held Thursday, Jan. 28, at 11 a.m. at Cutler Funeral Home, LaPorte, with Rev. Carl Galloway officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home on Wednesday, Jan. 27, from 3 to 7 p.m. and on Thursday from 10 to 11 a.m. Burial will take place Thursday following the service in Rolling Prairie Cemetery with full military honors.
