The full-page article discusses how she lost more than 50 pounds and was able to keep the weight off by doing Weight Watchers and Jazzercise. But the inspiration isn’t that she lost the weight. The real story is that she didn’t want to diet, but did it anyway to encourage her husband, Scot, who needed to shed pounds himself because of his health. Now the dieting and workouts have paid off for Katie.

As the article points out, it was her husband who first got involved in Weight Watchers. Katie then joined to provide support. Scot, a former news editor at The News-Dispatch in Michigan City, found out about Weight Watchers from then-Lifestyle Editor Sue Humphrey.

“Sue couldn’t stop talking about all the weight she lost from Weight Watchers,” Scot said. “In fact, she liked it so much she now works for the company.”

Katie, 35, is a speech-language pathologist working in the New Prairie United School Corporation. Scot is a marketing consultant. They have two children, Zachary 10, and Alayna, 8.
