Three people were arrested Wednesday, Jan. 27, 2010, for allegedly operating a methamphetamine lab in LaPorte.
According to a release from the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office, LaPorte County Metro Operations Unit detectives went to 410 Lincolnway, Apt. 1, because they had a warrant for
Kenneth A. Hine, 47. Hine was wanted on charges of purchasing 3 or more grams of pseudoephedrine, a Class C misdemeanor. While there, detectives discovered evidence of a methamphetamine lab.
After getting a search warrant for the home, police arrested Dustin Hine, 23, and Briana Lucas, 21. They
were each charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, a Class A felony, and possession of a clandestine lab, a Class C felony.
All three were taken to LaPorte County Jail.
Metro Operation detectives were assisted by the sheriff’s office, LaPorte Police Department, Indiana State Police, agents from the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration, and the LaPorte County Prosecutor’s Office. The case is being reviewed by the United States Attorney’s Office for potential federal charges.
Sheriff Mike Mollenhauer praised the detectives assigned to the
Metro Operations Unit. “The discovery of this clandestine operation is the result of detectives becoming aware of potential methamphetine activity based on their routine verification checks of ephedrine logs throughout LaPorte County,” he said. “These arrests are evidence of the fact that methamphetine is present in our community and that local, state and federal law enforcement are working in tandem to combat this ever-growing problem.”
