Mrs. Ann K. Bennitt, 88, of LaPorte, died Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, at LaPorte Hospital.
She was born Aug. 27, 1921, in Winthrop, MN, the daughter of Paul J. and Mary (Pausch) Kamradt. She moved to the LaPorte area in 1943, coming from Minnesota.
Ann worked as a bus driver for LaPorte Community School Corp. for 30 years, retiring in 1992, and also worked as a custodian at Bethany Lutheran Church for 30 years. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church; she made hospital visits for the church and visited with shut-in church members. Ann was also a member of the Couples Club of the church.
On June 16, 1943, in Minneapolis, MN, she married Thomas E. Graham, who preceded her in death on July 1, 1962. On Dec. 24, 1964, in LaPorte, she married Kenneth S. Bennitt, who preceded her in death on April 17, 1993.
Ann was also preceded in death by her parents, daughter Sandra Garab, and two brothers.
She is survived by her two sons, Paul (Cheri) Graham of Fairport,, NY, and Dean (Pat) Graham of LaPorte; one daughter, Nancy Walter of Clearwater, FL; 13 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and four nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Bethany Lutheran Church, LaPorte, on Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Dennis Meyer officiating. The family will receive friends at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, on Monday, Feb. 1, from 4 to 7 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the service. Interment will follow the service at Carmel Cemetery, LaPorte.
