A LaPorte City Police officer apprehended a suspect shortly after the National City Bank branch at 611 Pine Lake Ave. was robbed on Monday afternoon, Feb. 1.
Chad C. Curless, of rural LaPorte, was arrested and taken to LaPorte County Jail following the robbery at about 3:08 p.m. Monday.
The suspect entered the bank branch and showed a handgun, police said in a press release. He fled on foot.

LaPorte Police Specialist John Butcher caught the armed suspect shortly after the robbery in a nearby wooded area.
Officers from LaPorte City Police and the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department searched the area. At 3:21 p.m., Curless was apprehended in a nearby wooded area by LaPorte City Police Officer John Butcher. Curless was armed, but was arrested without incident.
The FBI has been notified and is handling the initial charge for the bank robbery. Additional state charges may be forthcoming, police said.

First time visiting site, and my comment is there needs to be more diversity on this site to truly appreciate all the people in laporte.. all most 99% white people.. As laporte people we can do better!!!…
