Jean Albin   Mrs. Jean G. Albin, 59, of LaPorte, died Tuesday, Feb. 2, 2010, at her home.

   She was born Feb. 27, 1950, in LaPorte, the daughter of Owen L. and Phyllis (Rose) Travis.

   Jean was a graduate of Ivy Tech in 1970; she worked at Countryside Nursing Home, Walters Hospital, Fountainview Nursing Home, and Maxim Health Care Services. She had been a licensed practical nurse (LPN) for the last 40 years. She was a member of Merry Moderns of Purdue, DAR, Eastern Star and PRCU. She moved to California in 1985 and moved back to LaPorte in the fall of 1999 with her family. She was known by many people as “Grandma Jean.”

   On May 2, 1970, she married Joseph F. Albin, who preceded her in death on May 4, 1994.

   Also preceding her in death were her parents and brother-in-law, Steven Albin.

   She is survived by her daughter, Joanna (Brian) Cave of LaPorte; three sons, Jason (Laura) Albin of Kingsbury, IN, Frank J. Lazaro of California and Nicholas R. Lazaro of California; five grandchildren, Kristin, Tyler and Riley Cave of LaPorte and Ireland and Vada Albin of Kingsbury; significant other for the last 15 years, Frank Lazaro; brother, Max (Barbara) Travis of Bull Shoals, AZ; and sister, Kay (David) Snow of LaPorte.

   Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, on Saturday, Feb. 6, at 10 a.m. with Pastor Jo Ellyn Chadwick officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, Feb. 5, from 3 to 7 p.m. and on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the service. Interment will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte.
