Agnes DeGroote   Mrs. Agnes J. De Groote, 106, of New Carlisle, IN, died at 6:16 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2010, at LaPorte Hospital.

   She was born Nov. 7, 1903, in Mishawaka, IN, to August and Thressa (Kronewitter) De Groote.

   Mrs. De Groote was a registered nurse. She was a member of St. John Kanty Catholic Church and its Rosary Society, and also belonged to the Golden Agers, Wills Township Homemakers Club and Farm Bureau Co-op.

   On June 18, 1928, in Notre Dame, IN, she married Charles De Groote, who preceded her in death on Sept. 11, 1987.

   She was also preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Mary De Groote and Jeanne Conklin; two sons, John and William De Groote; two sisters, Serena Currey and Louise Vanderbosch; and two brothers, George and Carl De Groote.

   She leaves behind one son, Jerome (Nancy) Degroote of Oklahoma City, OK; one son-in-law, Edmund Conklin of Shelton, CT; one daughter-in-law, Sue DeGroote of LaPorte; 11 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Elizabeth Finch of San Diego, CA; and several nieces and nephews.

   A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, Feb. 10, at 10:30 a.m. LaPorte time at St. John Kanty Catholic Church, Rolling Prairie, IN, with Rev. Michael Heimer officiating. Visitation will be held at Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, on Tuesday, Feb. 9, from 4 to 7 p.m. and Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. LaPorte times. A rosary service will be held Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. LaPorte time at the funeral home with Rev. Heimer officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Notre Dame, following the service.
