Mr. Phillip L. Krueger Sr., 79, of LaPorte, died Sunday, Feb. 7, 2010, at Golden Living Center-Fountainview in LaPorte.
He was born April 23, 1930, in Springfield Township, LaPorte County, the son of Edward and Marie (Benson) Krueger.
Phillip worked as a construction worker for Larson-Danielson Construction Co. for over 30 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Old Timers Baseball Club and Local 81. Phillip was a diehard Cubs fan and a Jeff Gordon fan; he enjoyed watching NASCAR. Phillip also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
On March 24, 1962, in LaPorte, he married Ruth Boone, who preceded him in death on Aug. 31, 1995.
Phillip was also preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, and brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his daughter, Mary Krueger of LaPorte; son, Phillip (Marilyn) Krueger Jr. of LaPorte; three grandchildren, Jennifer Krueger, Brent Krueger and Justin Krueger; and one brother, Gordon Krueger of Mill Creek, IN.
Services will be held at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, on Wednesday, Feb. 10, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Dan McDonald officiating. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from noon until the service. Cremation will take place, with burial of ashes in Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte.
