I met Denny during the ’70s when he would arrange for race driver visits to Riley Hospital during the month of May. I remember him telling me about the days when he was a patient at that same Riley Hospital after suffering severe burns as a child and how thrilled he was when Roy Rogers visited. His efforts to add a little cheer to those children were wonderful. I often accompanied him to photograph those visits, an experience I will never forget. Denny touched many lives and his enthusiasm and good nature were contagious. I’m comforted that he spent some of his last days doing what he so dearly loved, watching his beloved open wheel race cars out West. Happy Trails old friend! John Mahoney
