Mr. John Patrick Grace, 84, of LaPorte, died at 10:15 a.m. on Wednesday, March 3, 2010, at Brentwood Assisted Living, LaPorte.
He was born March 18, 1925, in LaPorte to Stanley and Emma (Luchsinger) Grace.
Mr. Grace was a signalman for the Conrail Railroad.
On April 26, 1946, in LaPorte, he married Virginia Lee Shroyer, who preceded him in death on Nov. 14, 2006.
Also preceding him in death were his parents and daughter, Janece Grace.
He leaves behind two daughters, Joyce Grace of Benzonia, MI, and Claudia Breitzke of LaPorte; three grandchildren, Jeri Ralston, Jeromie Breitzke and Amy Moore; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 6, at 10 a.m. at Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, with Rev. Evan Lash officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, March 5, from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, following the service, with a military graveside service conducted by the LaPorte Honor Guard.
