Mrs. Josephine Mary Thomas, 100, of LaPorte, died at 1:38 a.m. on Friday, March 19, 2010, at Golden Living Center/Fountainview Terrace, LaPorte.

   Josephine was born Feb. 10, 1910, in Rolling Prairie, IN, to Michael and Mary (Novak) Kaminski.

   She retired fro Boris Smolers as a supervisor after 31 years of service. She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Joseph Altar and Rosary Society and Fatima Apostolate, past member of American Legion Auxiliary and VFW Auxiliary of LaPorte 1130, and a former St. Joseph Curiosity Shop volunteer.

   She leaves behind her sister, Lucille Grover of LaPorte; her brother, Raymond Kaminski of Longmont, CO; and many nieces and nephews.

   She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Clara Mack, Harriet Novak and Marion Turnes; and two brothers, Edward and George Kaminski.

   A funeral Mass will be held Monday, March 22, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, LaPorte, with Rev. David Kime officiating. Visitation will be at Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, on Sunday, March 21, from 3 to 6 p.m., and Monday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. A prayer service will be held Sunday at 5 p.m. at the funeral home.
