Miss Leigha Kay Miller, 19, of Walkerton (Fish Lake), IN, died Thursday, March 18, 2010, at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN.
She was born Aug. 6, 1990, in LaPorte, the daughter of Thomas Harold Miller Jr. and Anna Marie (Osborn) Miller. She had lived all of her life in the LaPorte area.
Leigha was a member of First Baptist Church of Kingsbury. She was in her second semester at Purdue North Central, studying Mass Communication, and was employed in the Communication Department at PNC. In fifth grade, she received the President’s Award for academics. Leigha was a gifted writer and artist, and was an award-winning essayist. She played soccer with the YMCA and was on the traveling soccer teams. Leigha enjoyed spending time with friends and family.
She is survived by her mother, Anna Marie Miller of Walkerton (Fish Lake); father, Thomas Harold Miller Jr. of Tennessee; daughter, Emma-Leigh Renee Sheaks of Walkerton (Fish Lake); brother, Jeremiah Thomas Miller of Walkerton (Fish Lake); grandparents, Jim and Thelma Osborn of LaPorte, and Jerry and Kay Wright of Arkansas; fiancé, Timothy Williams of Rochester, IN; beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends.
The family will receive friends at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, on Monday, March 22, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday, March 23, from noon until the service at 2 p.m. with Pastor Dennis Smith officiating. Interment will follow at Kingsbury Cemetery, Kingsbury, IN.
Memorial contributions may be made to 1st Source Bank for Leigha’s daughter, Emma-Leigh Renee Sheaks.
