Kenneth Keehn

   A LaPorte couple was arrested Thursday, July 15, 2010, for allegedly dealing heroin, and their two small children were subsequently placed in the care of a relative.

   Arrested were Kenneth James Keehn, 27, and his wife, Ashley, 26, both of 1704 Country Acres, according to a press release from the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office. The arrests were made by the LaPorte County Metro Operations Unit.

   Kenneth Keehn is charged with one count of dealing in a controlled substance, a Class A felony. Ashley Keehn is charged with one count of Class B felony dealing in a controlled substance and one count of Class A felony dealing in a controlled substance. They were both being held on $100,000 bond at the LaPorte County Jail.

   The Metro Operations Unit, assisted by the LaPorte Police Department, confiscated heroin, a large amount of syringes, small ziplock bags and an assortment of prescription medications from the Keehns’ home when they were arrested, the sheriff’s office stated.

   The children were in the home at the time of the arrests. The Indiana Department of Children and Family Services took care of the children until they were released into the custody of a family member.

   In an unrelated incident, the Metro Operations Unit arrested Eric B. Moen, 27, of 705 Ridge St., LaPorte, for possession of a controlled substance, a Class D felony. He was being held at the LaPorte County Jail on $5,000 bond.

   The LaPorte County Metro Operations Unit is comprised of members of the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office and the LaPorte City Police Department.
