DVDs of “LaPorte, Indiana: A Documentary” are now available, and the film recently won an award at the Indianapolis Film Festival.

“We won! From the Indianapolis Film Fest: ‘I wanted to share with you the news that ‘LaPorte, Indiana’ has won our annual Hoosier Lens award for filmmaking from/about/by Indiana — we couldn’t think of a better film to share the honor with!’” reads a post on the film’s Facebook page.

The documentary about LaPorte, focusing on the late Frank Pease’s studio photos, debuted at the New LaPorte Cinema on July 14, 2010. To read WNLP’s review of the film, click on the following link:

Film creators Jason Bitner and Joe Beshenkovsky had a limited number of DVDs available on premiere night; those quickly sold out. Now more are available through the film’s website, http://laportemovie.com/.

“Grab one for yourself and send another to your favorite LaPortean. Choose from our limited-edition, hand-signed versions or pre-order the Director’s Edition DVD out this fall,” a message on the website reads.

The limited-edition DVD now available is $20. Each DVD is signed by Beshenkovsky and Bitner. Pre-order the Director’s Edition, which will include extras, bonus material and liner notes, for $25. Or pre-order a special edition, also available this fall, which will include “an abundance of bonus features, extra scenes and characters, slideshows, liner notes, as well as a fantastic song written and recorded by Jari Gift, granddaughter of photographers Frank and Gladys Pease.”

“We’ll be putting a lot of love into the extras, and we’ll make sure it’s well worth the wait.”
