1. Host LaPorte victorious in 12-team Volleyball Showdown

      Host LaPorte placed first among the 12 teams in the LaPorte Slicers Volleyball Showdown on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010.

      Team standings were: 1. LaPorte, 2. Knox, 3. Concord, 4. West Lafayette, 5. Goshen, 6. Highland, 7. Merrillville, 8. Kankakee Valley, 9. Washington Township, 10. Peru, 11. South Bend Clay, 12. East Chicago Central.

      In the championship flight, LaPorte downed Knox 25-17, 25-22. In the second-place flight, Goshen defeated Highland 25-14, 22-25, 15-12. In the third-place flight, Washington Township defeated Peru 25-15, 25-23.
