Robert G. Tarnow, 83, of LaPorte, died at 8:07 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21, 2010, at LaPorte Hospital.

   He was born Dec. 28, 1926, to William and Linda (Struss) Tarnow.

   Mr. Tarnow was a field supervisor for the Indiana Toll Road, retiring after 33 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ.

   On June 9, 1950, in LaPorte, he married Mary E. Holderbaum, who survives.

   Also surviving are one daughter, Suzann (Timothy) Myres; one granddaughter, Corynn Myres; one grandson, Broderick Myres; one sister, Marcelle Peters of Verona, WI; and many nieces and nephews.

   He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Ella Behn and Charlotte Wildfang; and five brothers, Willard, Raymond, Clarence “Todd,” John and William Jr.

   There will be no visitation. A private graveside service will take place at Door Village Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte.
