A large fire consumed a major portion of the second floor of the Union Mills hardware store on Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2010. The fire was reported shortly after noon and as of 3:30 p.m. firefighters were still working, although the fire was contained. Eight fire departments responded to the blaze on Water Street in downtown Union Mills.
