Leo Losey   Mr. Leo F. Losey Sr., 89, of LaPorte, died Friday, Aug. 27, 2010, at LaPorte Hospital.

   He was born Nov. 2, 1920, in LaPorte, the son of Floyd and Maude (Hanney) Losey.

   Leo worked for Modine Manufacturing Co. for 42 years before retiring in 1984. He attended LaPorte Assembly of God Church and was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. He loved his family. He was a good husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. He enjoyed woodworking and specialized in making furniture for children; there are examples of his work all over LaPorte.

   On Feb. 8, 1947, in LaPorte, he married Betty Cottrill Losey, who survives.

   He is also survived by his son, Leo F. (Gayle) Losey Jr. of LaPorte; 27 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; and a half-sister, Frances Corsby of LaPorte.

   Leo was preceded in death by his parents; three sons, Thomas Losey, James Losey and David Losey; daughter Diana Minich; a granddaughter; half-sister Betty Day; and half-brother Howard Goodson.

   The family will receive friends at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, on Tuesday, Aug. 31, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, Sept. 1, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Jeff Hines officiating. Interment will follow at Pine Lake Cemetery, LaPorte, where military graveside honors will be conducted by the American Legion-VFW Honor Guard.
