Mr. Leonard T. Rogozinski, 77, of Rolling Prairie, IN, died Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010, at 8:36 p.m. at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital, Michigan City, IN.
He was born Nov. 14, 1932, in Chicago to Bruno and Jennie (Jakubowski) Rogozinski.
Mr. Rogozinski was a retired Chicago police officer, having served for 32 years. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served during the Korean War. He was a member of the Illinois Police Association, City of Chicago Fraternal Order of Police, and St. John Kanty Catholic Church in Rolling Prairie. He enjoyed golfing, playing cards and sports.
On June 15, 1957, in Chicago, he married Vivian A. Przybylski, who survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Nancy (Joe) Dabrowski of Yorba Linda, CA; one son, Leonard (Leslie) Rogozinski of Vista, CA; three grandchildren, Kimberly Dabrowski and Nicholas and Daniel Rogozinski; one sister, Frances Sikora of Armstrong Creek, WI; and one nephew, George Hylaszek of Lockport, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Harriet Hylaszek.
A funeral Mass will be held Thursday, Sept. 9, at 10 a.m. at St. John Kanty Catholic Church, Rolling Prairie, with Rev. Michael Heimer officiating. Visitation will be held at Essling Funeral Home, LaPorte, on Wednesday, Sept. 8, from 3 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. A rosary will be held Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
