The PKD Foundation and Volunteer Committee want to thank everyone who participated in the fourth annual Michigan City Walk for PKD on Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010, at Creek Ridge County Park. Over 100 participants walked to raise funds to help find a cure, and raised just over $11,000 of the $13,000 goal.
Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) affects 600,000 Americans and 12.5 million children and adults worldwide. There is no treatment or cure, but there is hope, said Laura Moyer, walk coordinator.
This year’s Walk for PKD primary sponsors were: LaPorte County Parks, NIPSCO, The News-Dispatch, Albano’s, Hass & Associates, Meijer, Dr. West, Massage Therapy & Wellness Center, Jim and Lauren Arnold, Top Dog Great Lakes Catering, and Butler, Fairman & Seufert. Thanks to the committee as well: Jeff Moyer, Mike and Debbie Paholski, Nancy Kubath, Evelyn Bechinski, Cathy Dye, DeAngela Boyan, Jean Lawson, Pam Armstrong, Niki Schmutte, Shellee Marter, and Muriel Berryman.
Moyer said this was a huge success and it was great to see all the community support.
