Jim and Marlene Haferkamp of LaPorte celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends at a dinner reception Oct. 16, 2010, at Portofino Grill.
On Oct. 15, 1960, Marlene Wilk and James Haferkamp were united in marriage by Rev. Victor Frohne at St. Paul’s Evangelical and Reform Church, LaPorte. Matron of Honor was Arlene Dabkowski, twin sister of the bride. Best Man was Richard Hileman, cousin of the groom.
The couple has two sons: Jim (Sandy) Haferkamp of LaPorte and John (Katie) Haferkamp of New Carlisle. They have been blessed with three grandchildren: Jimmy, Austin and Kaylee.
Marlene worked for many years at Angelo Bernacchi Greenhouses Garden Shop. After 20 years of service, Jim retired as captain of the LaPorte City Police Department. He continued in the workforce and worked for Whirlpool Corp. for almost 20 years.
