The following LaPorte Community Schools students and programs were lauded during the Celebration of Success portion of the Nov. 9, 2010, LaPorte School Board meeting:
— Drug Free Work Week 2010 winner, named by Purdue North Central: Elementary — Grand Prize, Britney Lawson, Handley; Winner, Gillian Santana, Indian Trail, and Serena Holmes, Lincoln. Middle School — Honorable Mention, Emily Osborn, Boston. High School — Grand Prize, Karra Chaltrow; Winner – Tiffany Schoof.
— Boston Middle School students Matthew Steck (horn), Adrianna LeDonne (trombone) and D’Aria Kincaid (alto saxophone) have been selected to participate in the Indiana Bandmasters Association All-Region Band.
— Boston Middle School student Jeremy Russell received an Honorable Mention in the Studebaker National Museum’s 2010 Design Contest.
— The Missoula Children’s Theatre play will be “King Arthur’s Quest” this year. Auditions will be held Nov. 15, with performances at 3 and 7 p.m. Nov. 20.
— La Porte Community School Corporation received the 2010 Indiana-Ohio Blood Services Region “Faithful Friend Award” from the American Red Cross.
