   Katie Stam, of Indianapolis and formerly of Seymour, IN, and Brian Irk, currently of Westfield, IN, and formerly of LaPorte, were married at Union Station, Indianapolis, on July 23, 2010.

   Katie graduated from Seymour High School in 2005 and is a student at University of Indianapolis. She is self-employed as a motivational speaker and author and is Miss America 2009. Katie’s parents are Tracy and Keith Stam of Seymour.

   Brian graduated from LaPorte High School in 2003 and University of Indianapolis in 2007. He is self-employed as a personal trainer and boys soccer coach. Brian’s parents are Barb and Jerry Irk, formerly of LaPorte, now residing in Hendersonville, NC.

   Matrons of Honor were the bride’s sisters, Heidi Lawrence and Heather Florido, both of Indianapolis. Bridesmaids were Janelle Thompson, bride’s cousin, Indianapolis; Alli Opfer, St. Augustine, FL; Esha Hrivnak, Indianapolis; Claire Buffie, New York City; and Lauren Irk, sister of groom, Lexington, NC. Flower girls, all nieces of the bride, were Paige Lawrence, Breanna Lawrence and Elizabeth Florido

   Ring bearer was Noah Lawrence, nephew of the bride. Best Men were Craig Miller of Indianapolis and Andy Stanton of Chicago. Groomsmen were Joel Tonagel, Columbia, SC; Peter Davis, Huntington Beach, CA; Jeff Sidwell, Indianapolis; Justin Holmquest, Valparaiso, IN; Eric Stam, bride’s brother, Indianapolis; and Michael Nash, Indianapolis. Ushers, both brothers-in law of the bride, were David Lawrence and Carlos Florido, both from Indianapolis.

   A reception was held at Union Station. The couple surprised the attendees by doing a hip-hop dance with friends who had taken a dance class with the couple.

   The couple were fortunate to have two honeymoons. They went to Gatlinburg, TN, following the wedding and to St. Marten in the fall as a delayed honeymoon and a wedding gift to the couple.

   They live in Westfield, IN.
