Kara and Michael Kessler

   Kara Michelle Ward and Michael Jon Kessler were married June 4, 2011. The Rev. Dr. Philip L. Boroughs, VP of Mission and Ministry at Georgetown University, performed the ceremony at St. Mary of the Annunciation Catholic Church in Charleston, South Carolina.

   The bride, 28, is an attorney in the banking and finance division of the Office of General Counsel at the United States Department of the Treasury in Washington, D.C. She graduated from Georgetown University and received a law degree from George Washington University. She is a daughter of Mary Ann Ward and Robert S. Ward of Summerville, S.C.

   The bridegroom, 38, is a visiting assistant professor at Georgetown, where he teaches political theory, ethics, and law and religion. He is an adjunct professor of law at Georgetown University Law Center and an Associate Director of the Georgetown’s Berkley Center for Religion, Peace and World Affairs. He graduated from LaPorte High School, Valparaiso University, and received an M.A. and a Ph.D. in religion, ethics and political theory from the University of Chicago; he also has a law degree from Georgetown. He is a son of the late Carol A. Kessler and the late Wesley L. Kessler, who lived in LaPorte, Ind.
