The Terra Verde Garden Club met June 14, 2011. The program was a tour of Joan Stone’s, Carol Peterson’s and Frances Raderstorf’s gardens.
The meeting was conducted by Raderstorf at her home. The conservation report, given by Karen Piper, was on “Why Plant Trees?” The library report was on “The Bad Tempered Gardener” by Anne Wareham.
It was reported that the plant sale at the Jongkind Park community garage sale was successful.
The club is asking the public for nominations for the annual Terra Verde Gardening Club Awards. The awards are given to acknowledge outstanding gardens at private homes and businesses in our community.
The club will meet next on Tuesday, July 12, at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, LaPorte. Members and guests will take a walk to view LaPorte’s large and unusual trees, guided by Liz Ridenour. The public is welcome! Call 362-1603 for information.
