Footlight Players held its fifth annual awards banquet on July 23, 2011, at Pottawattomie Country Club in Michigan City, IN.
Co-chairpeople Diana Hirsch and Kathy Chase along with committee members Bill Wild and Bobby Komendera put together a very enjoyable evening.
The crowd enjoyed music, dinner and a silent auction, then President Jan Rice turned the microphone over to Mike McCalment, the evening’s emcee. Twenty-one awards were handed out.
The Critics’ Choice Award for best production of the season went to the “Dixie Swim Club,” as chosen by Michigan City News-Dispatch entertainment editor Andrew Talleckson.
The prestigious President’s Award went to Christopher Whybrew, who also collected three Hidden Talent Awards for his work on the sets of “Hollywood Arms,” “The Murder Room” and “A Tuna Christmas.” He was also selected to receive the group’s Hall of Fame Award for all of his talent and hard work that has enhanced Footlight Players theatrical endeavors.
