The LaPorte Slicer football team moved to 2-0 on the young season with a 35-28 win over South Bend Clay Friday night, Aug. 26, 2011, in South Bend.
LaPorte relied heavily on its running game, with seniors Andrew Schuelke and Taylor James moving the ball as the “O” line opened up the holes. Another returning senior, Jared Ross, hauled in an overthrown Clay pass that set up Taylor James to score LaPorte’s fifth and final touchdown of the game.
Next Friday LaPorte will open up Duneland Conference action against rival Valparaiso at Kiwanis Field. Game time is 7 p.m.
