CARF International (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities) recently announced that Michiana Resources Inc. has been accredited for a period of three years for its Community Assistive Technology, Employment Assistive Technology, Community Integration, Community Job Development, Community Job Supports, Community Job Site Training, Employment Transition Services, and Organizational Employment programs.
A three-member CARF accreditation team visited Michiana Resources to review all areas of its operation. Their findings were submitted in an accreditation report. Among the items noted were:
– “All facilities owned and used by the organization are attractive, well maintained, clean and accessible.”
– “The board and staff are highly commended for addressing the fiscal challenges faced by the organization and they continue to ensure careful financial stability through fiscal control and keen planning.”
– “The organization enjoys a strong network of community support and many loyal and long-term relationships.”
– “Employers throughout the community speak in glowing terms about the supported employment program, describing the program as a wonderful way to identify and retain qualified employees.”
– “Parents and guardians of the persons served voiced appreciation for dedicated staff members whom they described as compassionate, caring and concerned for their loved ones.”
– “The organization was singled out at the annual Indiana Association of Rehabilitation Facilities conference as winner of the poster contests, touting Daybreak adult day services and the Sensory and Environmental Awareness Lab posters.”
In making the accreditation announcement, Brian Boon, president/CEO of CARF, stated, “Michiana Resources has a strong and dedicated board that maintains a strong commitment to MRI mission and quality programs. Activities such as community connections, creative concepts career club provide valuable mechanisms for community and career explorations.”
John Regetz, chair of the Michiana Resources Board of Directors, said, “The Board of Directors is extremely proud of this national recognition. We want to recognize our staff for their dedication to serving our consumers and our community.”
Evelyn Marvel, co-CEO with Sandra Alexander, stated, “Sandy and I are so proud of the staff. They all work very hard each and every day to provide quality services to the individuals we serve.” Sandy continued, “Michiana Resources staff makes our jobs so much easier because of their dedication to Michiana and the clients.”
