Homecoming always stokes the fires of LaPorte Slicers and their fans. As LPHS prepares to cheer the Slicers to victory on Friday, Oct. 7, 2011, against Michigan City, students and fans gathered Wednesday, Oct. 5, in the Kesling Middle School field to hold the traditional bonfire and have a little fun.
The LPHS Marching band was on hand to play the school fight song. Coach Bob Schellinger and the four co-captains, Jared Ross, Auston Epple, David Eldridge and Taylor James, fired up the crowd. The event was capped off by the traditional bonfire supervised by members of the LaPorte Fire Department.
The LaPorte Educational Foundation’s annual tailgate party at Kiwanis Field will start at 5 p.m. Friday before the game. This year’s dunk tank will feature notables such as LaPorte schools Superintendent Glade Montgomery, school board President Mitch Feikes and State Rep. Tom Dermody.
