2011 LaPorte High School graduates and current Rose-Hulman cross country/track and field standouts, Stuart West and Josh Hojnacki, ran in the NCAA DIII Heartland Conference Cross Country Championships on Oct. 29, 2011.

West was named to the All-Conference Team and was named All-Conference Freshman of the Year. Fellow freshman Hojnacki earned Honorable Mention All-League accolades.

West, Hojnacki, Mitch Hubner and Austin Alcorn ran together on the LaPorte High School all-time-record-setting 4×800 meter relay at the Indiana Track and Field State Championships in June 2011. They medaled and placed 5th at that meet. West and Hojnacki ran varsity and qualified for the State Finals every year of their high school careers. In 2010, both were team captains and named All DAC and Academic All-State. The team was the sectional champion that year as well.

Both West and Hojnacki have finished 1st and 2nd respectively for Rose-Hulman three times this year. West has earned Athlete of the Week status for the college three times this year.

West and Josh Hojnacki join six other LPHS cross country alumni currently running at the collegiate level: Jake Hojnacki, Mike Fout, Corey Dillon, Matt Miller, Corbin Slater, and Morgan Dearing.
