The LaPorte Slicers football team’s annual awards banquet and ceremony took place Tuesday night, Nov. 15, 2011, at the Silver Palace in LaPorte. The annual ceremony is held to recognize the outstanding players from the previous season as well as the many supporters of LaPorte’s football program. The event is sponsored and planned by the Slicer Touchdown Club, which also provides scholarships to players on the team.
The following players received awards at the ceremony: Bronson Severs, Most Valuable JV Player; Steve Bowser, Lunch Bucket Player Award; Kasey Kozlowski, Real Slicer Award; Justin Garrett, Most Valuable Defensive Back; Michael Ash, Most Improved; Paul Gary, Jake Yoder Scholarship; Austin Johnson, Maria Fruth Scholarship; David Eldridge, Most Valuable Offensive Lineman; Andrew Schuelke, Most Valuable Offensive Back and Offensive MVP; Taylor James, Touchdown Club Scholarship, Most Valuable Linebacker and Most Valuable Defensive Player; Jared Ross, Touchdown Club Scholarship, Most Valuable Special Teams Player and Most Valuable Receiver; Austin Epple, Most Valuable Defensive Lineman.
