Three freight trains collided Friday afternoon, Jan. 6, 2012, just southwest of Westville in Porter County. Reportedly, one train was stopped, a second train ran into the first from behind, and a third hit the derailed cars.
The LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department and Hazmat Team were among emergency units at the site, according to LaPorte County Sgt. Mike Kellems. Only minor injuries to two train crew members have been reported.
