The LaPorte County Historical Society is currently seeking nominations for the Historian of the Year Award. There are two categories for nomination: Individual and Organization. The individual may be someone who currently is or in the past has been involved in projects of LaPorte County historical preservation. The organization must be currently responsible for preservation activities of LaPorte County’s history.

Documentation of the individual’s or organization’s activities must be provided in order to be considered. Items of documentation that may be used are newspaper clippings, photographs of activities, examples of the accomplishments, and any items or information that would document the reason for nomination for the award. Do not include originals. Anything provided as documentation will be placed in the files at the museum along with the nomination form.

These are one-time awards. Nominations will not be carried over from year to the next — only nominations submitted during the current year will be considered for an award. Awarding is at the May dinner/meeting of the society at the Activity Center for Older Adults.

Deadline for receipt of completed nomination forms with documentation is April 15, 2012. Copies of the nomination form are available at the museum or by e-mail from Historian of the Year Chair, Fern Eddy Schultz, at netster@csinet.net.
