The board of LaPorte Lions Club met Jan. 9, 2012, in the Monaco Room, Best Western Inn. Boss Lion Tom Ruda asked Sandra Provan to offer prayer. She read the minutes of the December board meeting, which were approved.
A motion to buy a 1-page ad for $100 in the district convention booklet was approved. The convention will be March 16-17 at Best Western Inn, LaPorte. A motion to buy 30 raffle tickets to raise funds for the event at a cost of $25 was approved. The tickets will be given out at the club’s winter dinner Jan. 30. A motion to pay annual dues to the LaPorte Chamber of Commerce was approved; Russ Klosinski will find out the amount. He also volunteered to be on the chamber’s Governmental Affairs Committee.
Ruda gave John Spiggle’s financial report, which was approved.
Dom Liberatore gave the Lions Alert financial report, which was approved. He gave the Project Fund a check for $6,000.
Ruda said he will arrange to present the $5,000 check to the Unity Foundation to fund plans for 1010 Pine Lake Ave.
Paul Marsh said he had only two meals to deliver for Meals on Wheels and wondered if routes could be combined.
