At least one accident occurred even before the snow started falling on Thursday, Jan. 12, 2012, in LaPorte County.
A Cadillac and a Ford van collided in the 8300 west block of Ind. 2 at about 7 a.m. LaPorte County Sheriff’s Deputy Andrew Morse, who investigated the crash, said the van, traveling east on Ind. 2, crossed the center line and struck the westbound Cadillac.
The driver of the Ford told police he was looking in the nearby fields for deer and didn’t realize that he had crossed the center line. He was cited for driving left of center and driving with a suspended driver’s license.
Both drivers declined medical treatment at the scene.
