Terry Lee Herring, 59, of LaPorte, died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital, Michigan City, IN.
He was born April 18, 1952, in Porter County, IN, to Jane Herring, and foster son of Richard Griffin and Shirley Griffin. He had lived in the LaPorte area for 49 years with his foster family.
Terry worked in the laundry department at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital, retiring in 1992. He attended Springville Free Methodist Church and loved to take care of his yard and garden.
He is survived by his foster mother, Shirley Griffin of LaPorte; numerous foster brothers and sisters; aunt, Patty (James) Moody of Kouts, IN; and numerous nieces and cousins.
Terry was preceded in death by his mother and foster father.
The family will receive friends at Haverstock Funeral Home, LaPorte, on Wednesday, Jan. 25, from 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A Life Celebration will be held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Luke Bedtelyon officiating. Interment will follow at Springville Cemetery, LaPorte County.
