Other than “snowball softball” being a misnomer this year, fun was still had by all as LaPorte Winterfest activities wrapped up on Saturday, Feb. 4.

Outside Cummings Lodge, folks were able to board a wagon pulled by Belgian beauties owned by Laura and Rick Bladecki of New Carlisle. Over at nearby Lions Field, it was closer to mudball than snowball softball as teams turned out for some preseason action.

The only Winterfest casualty this year: the ice fishing derby, which was postponed then canceled altogether because of unsafe conditions.
